SERVICES AND TRAFFICS

QUALITY, SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

  • List of services offered for cruiser traffic

The Port of Málaga is a pioneer in implementing a List of Services offered to Cruiser traffic, based on a system of guarantees reflected in commitments to clients involved with this traffic: consignee companies, tour operators, ship owners (represented in the figure of the captain) and passengers, where the object has been to continue improving the quality of services in order to fully merit the confidence of users, adapting to their demands and concerns.

The services oferred by Málaga's Port Authority for tourist Cruiser traffic are as follows:

        - Infrastructure Management
        - Administration and procedures
        - Commercial and Communication Activities
        - Monitoring of provision of services under a system of indirect management
        - Provision of direct management services

In the case of non-fulfillment of commitments made in the List of Services, the users will be able to present a complaint in written and spoken form to the Port Authority Client Service. The complaint is dealt with confidentially and in a personalised way, a reply being given within the week. Users of the services will be able to collaborate on the provision of the same services through a series of measures such as expressing opinions on surveys which are periodically carried out, via the formulation of consultations, complaints and suggestions and any other form which is in current legal legislation.

  • Ro-Ro traffic

The Port of Málaga is continuously carrying out a follow up of the activities related to ro-ro traffic with the aim of improving the quality of this traffic, identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Bulks traffic

Bulks traffic is also the object of this quality policy carried out by the Port of Málaga. The latest technology is being implemented for the loading and unloading of bulks, with the maximum protection of the environment very much in mind, especially in the treatment of solid, powdery bulks, for which there are ecological sheds.

  • Container and vehicle terminal

The Port of Málaga container and vehicle terminal obtained UNE EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Certification in 2006 in the area of Port Operations Management. The scope of this certification includes the processes necessary for the appropriate implementation of its merchandise handling in containers as well as maintenance of its equipment.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

The Port of Malaga started to apply the IMO’s ISPS Code in July 2004.

All necessary measures are applied in the Port facilities to guarantee safety and security in cruise and cargo ships, passengers, luggage and vehicles.

  • Latest technology in safety and security
The Port has an optical fiber net, which together with the modern surveillance and image recording system, enhances the control in all areas, guaranteeing the maximum safety and security.

On the other hand, the electronic equipment and latest telecommunication systems of "CCS MALAGA PORT CONTROL", are dedicated to controlling the maritime traffic.

All quays dedicated to passenger traffic in the port have protected areas with 3m high fences, following the IMO’s ISPS Code.
